Owner Of A Dream Not Made

Now I know why rides like the MS 150's that happen all over the place are so popular. If you ever get a chance to do one, do it. Hell, even start now and plan on it and get to it. The sea of humanity powering their way over asphalt with cheers from wonderfully supporting onlookers can be quite overwhelming at times. The seemingly one to one ratio of volunteer workers seems like a logistical impossibility. My faith in the goodness of people is being restored. Our agency team experienced some sort of bonding that I've yet to define to myself but all I can say is that it is awesomely positive. I rode well both days. I am ready to turn up the notch. I wish I could do it all, tour, commute and race. Somebody talk some sense into me if that is not practical because I am fixin to go off on this path if you don't. I lost my driver's license and debit card first thing Friday causing me to be unsettled, grumpy and generally hard to get along with. But all worked out well, I call

Spectacle

If you use a magnifying glass to look at a small bug, can the bug see you well enough to know what's inside your heart? If there is a rolling blackout in one part of the city does a magnetic field roll with it? Just 4 more days until we go to Houston for the MS-150. Just 5 more months til El Paso or Bust ride gets here.

Weighing Balance

Saul got some practice with his plumb bob last Thursday, using his analytic mind, sliding my seat and having me pedal in place. I actually had the Roubaix dialed in pretty close, making Saul's finishing touches sort of easy. If not for health and physical well being, my peace of mind promotes positive thinking in believing that I now have a new ride that is "fit" to me. Heaven forbid that anyone reads my unworthy blog, but if Saul should read it, I only hope he forgives me for I was a bit untruthful to him when I was under his fitting care. I told him I had allergies when in fact, when I went to the doctor's office later, found out I had some cold virus and got medicine prescriptions and directions to stay in and rest. Saul, I hope I wasn't contagious. By the time Sunday rolled around I was feeling better and on the mend, say around 80% well. I could not stand just looking at Roubaix with a beautiful spring day just out the door, so I climbed on and did a 50 miler

Dialing In

When and if I ever get to a pro shop to have my bicycle fit it will be interesting to see how far of I am with my own adjustments. Where do people learn what is the best way to fit others anyway? My 6 mile test drive last night felt awesome. It also helps crank up the daily mileage. My legs need a day of rest, glad I am driving tomorrow.
A lot has happened since I wrote to you last. Being a life long learner is in some ways a really good thing, but in other ways it could be just feudal waste of time. But time is all we have and we are going to spend it someway, so I vote that learning is the way to go. Pick a subject. Any subject. Most things just about everyone can do, but very few are the BEST at it. Golf? Anyone can get some clubs and go hit golf balls, but there is only one Tiger. Cycling? Only one Lance. A mechanic can go to the finest school and absorb all the learning thrown at him, but there is a difference in ability compared with those who have talent and experience, opposed to those that don't. We all have a special talent, it just depends on if we apply it to what it is. I don't know what my special talent is yet, that's why I am not world famous. It's not because I haven't been applying myself, kind of like trying pin the tail on the donkey. Don't get me wrong, I am having so much f
